Rocket 3D Model Box Assembly

Measures 7.5" tall x 2.25 " wide
(3.75" wide at upper mid) x 1.75" deep (base).
Composed of nose cone upper section that functions as lid,
and two-part lower base section,
with substantial interior capacity to fill with written note,
cash or gift card, or loose candy.
A bounty of pick-n-choose embellishments
make it even more fantastic.
Can be further embellished by attaching
the "outta this world" arched banner (separate cut design).

ASSEMBLY: 1. Identify and cut the shapes:
A nose cone/upper sections (2)
B nose cone checker & base accents (6 ea.)
C upper section accent panels (6)
D main upper sections (2)
E main section
F main section with attached hex bottom
G main section panels with contr underlay (2 ea)
H main sect rivet bands with contr underlays (5 ea)
I main section hex cover
J leg sections (3)   K leg accent overlays (3 ea l & r)
L leg accent star layers (6 ea)
M base sections, one with attached hex lid & bottom
N base bottom cover
O base grille accents (6)
2. Prepare the nose cone shapes by bending back
on tab perforations, vertical & horizontal perforations.
Join the two sections by overlapping the lower
panel straight side edge over the corresponding
side tab.
3. Prepare the main sections by bending back
on tab and vertical perforations.
Join the two section pairs by overlapping the
lower section straight edge at the corresponding
tab to perf line.
4. Prepare the base section by bending back
on tab perforations, vertical perforations.
Join the "half ring" sections by overlapping the
straight side edge at the corresponding side tab.
5. Prepare the nose cone checker accent units
by centering and attaching one checker (white)
shape on top of one checker base (red) shape.
Prepare 6 units.
7. Position and attach checker accent units
in the nose cone triangle space of the upper
sections, with slight offset at side and bottom edges.
(NOTE: if you wish to have contrast rivets
show through hole punches, layer and attach
the panels with contrast underlays.)
8. Form the nose cone shape by overlapping
the angled straight edge of each panel over the
adjacent tab to tab perforation, and attaching
in place. Take special care for accuracy and
to ensure that attachment is achieved
completely along the seam.
9. Complete the final side seam and upper seam
by overlapping straight edges over corresponding
tab perforation lines, and attaching in place.
10. Fold the rim tabs back and glue to the
inside of the lid shape.
11. Prepare decorative features
to the main rocket body sections:
flag emblem - layer star circle shape over
the base shape and glue together
rivet bands - glue punch band over contr base
side panels - layer with contr base.
12. Position and attach emblem onto
front panel of main section. Position and
attach bands at upper edge of all panels
except the front panel.
Position and attach side panels on alternate
main section panels.
13. Form the main section into a tube to bring
the straight side edge to overlap the opposite tab
perforation line, and glue in place.
14. Fold the base hex tabs upward/inward,
apply glue to the inside surfaces of wall near edges,
then bend the bottom hex into place,
tucking the tabs inside.
(NOTE this is a snug fit, for all lids
and bases, especially if using heavier
cardstock paper.)
Adjust so that tab perf lines align at
wall lower edges, as needed for accuracy.
15. Prepare leg sections by bending back at
center perf line, bending forward at side
"bracket" panel perforations.
16. Attach leg tip left & right accents,
and left & right upper accents as shown.
16. Fold the section in half, and glue the backsides
of halves together, leaving bracket halves
unattached.
17. Position one leg on each of the three
"empty" panels of main assembly,
with bottom straight edges of bracket even
with base edge, and glue in place.
18. Position and attach one grille shape on each
trapezoid panel, with even margins around each
edge.
19. Fold top hex edge tabs inward,
fold top into position with tabs tucked
inside, and glue in place, as for the main shape's
base hex bottom.
20. Repeat the process to fold base tabs
inward, position bottom hex base,
and glue in place.
21. Apply adhesive to the top of the base assembly
(may wish to use quick-grab adhesive)
then position the bottom of the main section
together with the top of the base, adjust
so that the hexagon edges align accurately,
and hold in place until secure.
If needed, you may be able to reach in
through the top of the main assembly to
apply finger tip pressure to join
the two surfaces.
22. Position and attach the base bottom hexagon.
23. Position and attach the inner main assembly
hexagon shape inside the main section container.
24. Form the upper section of the main rocket
into a tube, overlapping the straight side edge
at the opposite side tab perf line, and glue in place.
25. Bend bottom tabs inward slightly.
Apply adhesive to tabs (or, alternately
to the inside of the main section's upper edge)
then position upper ring so that bottom tabs
slide behind the main section's upper edge.
Attach in place, reaching fingers inside assembly
and outside to apply pressure for secure joints.
26. To position the cone "lid" in place,
slide over the upper portion of the main
assembly.
Here is the final project.
If desired, prepare the comet
"outta this world!" arch
and attach to the front panel
of the cone assembly.

Rocket Planets Box Card Assembly

Dimensional "square" box comes to sci fi life
with Saturn planet on taller back panel,
layered rocket ship on the back bridge,
asteroid marked moon on the front bridge.
Star cutouts and varied punch hole twinkles,
zigzag strips embellish side flaps,
exhaust cloud and "zoom!" word cut
embellish the front flap.
Measures approx. 6" tall x 2.625 wide x 2.625 deep
when opened (5.25" wide x 6.25" tall closed flat).

ASSEMBLY:  1. Identify and cut the shapes:
A main box body  B back flap accent with liner, star
C & E side flap accents with liners, rim strips, stars
D "Zoom!" word cut with exhaust cloud accent
(front flap accent below)
F Saturn accent shapes (circle, stripes, ring)
G back bridge strip
H back bridge rocket shapes
I front bridge strip
J moon shapes: overlay (3) and base circle
2. Prepare the main box body by bending back
on vertical perforation lines for panels and
back side flap, bending flaps forward.
NOTE that the back "flap" remains upright.
3. Prepare the side flaps by attaching the edge
strip at outer edge, star in the non-punched space . . .
. . . then attaching contrast liner (twinkle show thru)
behind the flap. Both left and right side flaps
are very similar.
Here are the left and right prepared side flap
overlay units.
4. Position all flaps on the inside surface of
the main box shape with straight cut upper edge
(side & front flaps) aligned at perforation line,
back flap lower straight edge aligned at
box straight edge.
Side and top shaped edges are offset slightly.
5. Form the box into a tube to bring the
straight side edge to overlap the opposite edge flap
perforation line, and glue in place.
NOTE that is is possible and may be helpful
to lay the body flat and apply pressure
along the seam area to complete the attachment.
6. Prepare the Saturn accent unit by
positioning and attaching the "stripes"
to the planet circle (edge shaping and stripe length
will help in positioning), then slipping the planet
through the oval "slot", centering, and gluing the
overlapping portions.
7. Position and attach the Saturn unit to the
upper back flap.
8. Prepare the other accents:
space ship - layer nose cone, body, star, exhaust pipe
over silhouette
moon - layer 2 or 3 punched shapes over base circle
exhaust cloud - layer "Zoom!" wordcut over cloud base
9. Prepare the bridge strips by bending
the end tabs back on each.
10. Attach rocket unit to  back bridge,
moon unit to front bridge.
11. Apply glue to the face surface of tabs for
back bridge, then insert into the box interior
to place it parallel to the back/front walls,
with tabs touching the side wall interiors,
AND position approx. 1/3 of distance forward.
Take care that the top edge of the bridge
is even with the top/perforation line edge
of the folded flap, as shown,
then apply pressure to the flaps to
achieve a good attachment.
Before the glue is completely cured . . .
. . . press the box card into its flattened form
and apply finger pressure through the layers
in the positions where the tabs have been joined.
(Do this step after each bridge is attached.)
12. Position and attach the front bridge in
similar fashion, placing it 1/3 of the distance
back from the box front wall
(that is, half way between the back bridge
and the front wall.)
13. Position and attach the exhaust cloud
accent unit to the front flap.
14. To prepare the card to give or send,
press into its flattened shape.
In this position, the card will fit into
a specially-sized envelope, such as
the "box card envelope moon stars" design
which is also available to purchase as a download.
Here is the finished box card, opened.

Rocket Slice Form Placecard

Planning a space-themed party?
Here's a fun and (relatively) quick table accent
to hold a place card for every astronaut at the feast!
Six center-folded shapes are joined back-to-back,
leg overlays added to prepare this dimensional rocket.
 Measures approx. 5.5" tall x 2" wide.
Or, create a dimensional decoration by
substituting out the card-holding slices.

ASSEMBLY: 1. Identify and cut the shapes:
A: rocket body slices 1-6
(NOTE that 1 & 6 include the cutout
that will accept the name card rectangle;
if you want to build a plain rocket,
cut one each of 3 & 4 in place of 1 & 6)
B leg overlays left and right
C name card base  D name card
2. Prepare all body slices by bending forward
at the vertical center perforation lines.
3. Position and attach appropriate left or right
leg overlays to each slice, matching edges
that correspond.
4. Pair up the body slices as shown . . .
. . .and adjust, attach securely the halves of slice 2
and slice 1 that come together as they are laid out.
5. Position slice 6 with corresponding
cutout edge aligned with remaining exposed
half of slice 1, adjust, and attach securely.
6. Continue to add the remaining slices
in order (5, 4, 3) in the same manner
to the assembly.
After the first half of slice 3 is attached
to slice 4, position and attach the
remaining half of 3 to the exposed half
of slice 2 to complete the circuit.
7. Layer the place card shapes
and attach.
8. To position the place card,
slide the center slot cuts over the
front leg fin, then tip in the
upper edge of card and slide
the top of the cutout over the card slot.
Here is the completed
rocket place card.
