Polar Bear & Snowflakes Large Rocker Card Assembly Tips

This freshly designed rocker card is big in proportion
(practically 8" wide and 7.5" tall)
to send someone special a giant hello!
Hollow and whole half circles, along with one that is arched,
are the planes on which the elements are attached.
Large foam squares - double high - add depth
and help it rock.
Back layer is a folded-in-half circle which
folds down to help with the card's motion as seen above . . .

or upward as shown here to show off the snowflake cutout
behind the bear's head.
Follow these steps to assemble a fun and unique winter card,
available as an svg cut file for purchase and download
from SnapDragon Snippets.

(This post is under construction.
Please return soon to view the completed assembly guide.)

ASSEMBLY TIPS:
1. Identify and cut the shapes.
Front layer A: hollow semi-circle with bear assembly, swag and snowflakes
Second layer B: solid semi-circle with north pole
Third layer C: half hollow full circle with phrase cutouts (layered on positioning shape)
Fourth layer D: Full circle with center perf line to fold.

2. Layer and assemble the polar bear. Cut the whole bear as "see thru" contrast for inner ear, paws. Or use optional smaller shapes to glue behind cutouts to provide the contrast. Add head, muzzle nose, eyes, feet, streamer, snowflakes.

Our sample uses double layer adhesive material cut as duplicate stars, layered onto card stock snowflakes, then covered with glitter, with jewel added.

Center and glue bear to front card shape where the layers overlap.

3. Assemble the north pole with top ball and band.

To add stripes, there are two options.

OPT 1: apply glue and wrap stripe shape around pole, folding sides inward at perf marks.

On the backside, folded edges are glued in place.

This is how the pole would look from the front.

OPT 2: Apply glue to backside of each of the stripes. Position and attach stripes only to the pole front.

Do not wrap side flanges to the back. Instead, simply trim away the connecting flanges so that stripes are even with the pole edges.

5. Use layer A held over layer B to help determine best pole position and angle, then apply foam squares to bottom, and in the middle where it can still attach to layer B base shape.

Attach layers A & B.

6. Prepare the phrase by gluing individual letters in place over the positioning shape (cut to match the base later it will be glued to, making it invisible).

7. Position the phrase so that the positioning shape arch edge matches up with the inner curved shape. Rotate it to the right as far as possible to preserve visibility on the finished card.

8. Add foam squares near where previous layers will fall on Layer C. The sample used here has two squares stacked in each position, to provide good dimension between layers and allow the card to have a chance to stand on edge and rock.

9. Fold Layer D in half. Overlap the backside to match the lower curved edges of layer C, apply glue and attach to the back of assembly.

This image shows how Layer C's upper "flap" can fold down into position behind the lower half of the assembled card.

Here is the finished card, with the back flap folded up for mailing.
Fold the back layer top section down to let it help the card stand and rock.
