Baby Teddy Rocker Card With Envelope

Round 5.5" diameter base includes rim
that folds down in back to add rocking motion
to greeting card for new baby.
At center, layered teddy is the star of the show.
Above, a slotted arch allows for optional ribbon threading
(or use arch faux ribbon shade to thread).
Below, "welcome baby" letter cuts sit above rocker edge,
with "BABY" blocks on a string.
Coordinates with "Envelope for Baby Rocker 5x5 Card" design.

(Envelope steps follow card assembly.)

ASSEMBLY: 1. Identify and cut the shapes:
A main card base (fold at horizontal center line)
B card front doily
C card front accent circle
D optional ribbon-end concealing tabs
E WELCOME word cut arch
F bear base  G inner ears
H bear body overlay  I bear face
J eye contrast underlay
K tummy overlay  L nose and nose underlay
M muzzle   N block overlays with letter cutouts
O blocks base shape
NOT SHOWN: optional paper ribbon arch
2A. Thread soft silk-style ribbon of selected medium
width (approx. 1/2" to 3/4") onto a lacing needle
or equivalent and thread up from back at
first lacing slot. Pull ribbon through until only
a small tail remains. Trim end straight across if nec.
B. On backside, cover the ribbon end with one
of the anchor tabs and glue in place.
(A small piece of cello tape and simply glue
could also be used.)
C. Continue the lacing process by inserting needle
down through next slot - across the wide portion
of the lacing sequence, then up again at the next
close slot, etc., across the arch.
D. At the final slot, the ribbon should be carried
to the backside where the final end is trimmed
to have a short tail and anchors as at the first end.
3. Position the accent plain edge circle shape
centered on the doily card front, and glue in place.
4. Position the WELCOME word cut arch
centered near the bottom of the doily front as shown,
and glue in place.
5. Prepare the nose unit by positioning and attaching
the nose front over the contrast nose underlay.
6. Position and attach the nose unit at the top
of the muzzle shape, centered, and with
top edges aligned.
7. Position the eye contrast underlay shape
behind the eye cutouts on the bear face shape
so that it "colors" the eye openings, and glue.
8. Position the muzzle with nose unit on the front
of the face shape, centered and with lower edges
aligned, and attach in place.
9. Position the body overlay over the body base
shape, centered and with matching edges aligned,
and glue in place.
10. Position and attach the head/face unit over
the body unit, centered, and with matching edges
aligned, then . . .
. . . position and attach the tummy shape
at bottom to complete the bear.
11. Position each of the block stencil shapes
over the blocks contrast base with tiny offset
margin all around, beginning with
center letters . . .
. . . until all are attached in place.
12. Use a darning style needle or equivalent
to thread a length of twine through the blocks
unit end holes (with tails forward) . . .
. . . then adjust the length so that the twine
is centered, then hide the center behind
the shape and use a small piece of cello tape
to hold the twine in its hidden location.
13. Tie the twine ends into attractive knots
and bows or loops as shown.
14. Position the bear unit, centered, over
the card assembly front, overlapping
the word cut at bottom slightly, as shown,
and attach in place.
15. Position the blocks assembly over the bear
so that upper ends are over the lower part of
hand paws, and attach in place.
(OPT: use foam squares to add dimension
and raise the blocks banner in front of bear.)
16. Prepare the card "rocker" base by bending
back along the horizontal perforation line.
17. Position the card front assembly over the flat
card base shape, adjust so that it centered
with doily edges evenly offset from circle edge . . .
. . . then attach at bottom half only.
COORDINATED ENVELOPE ASSEMBLY
18. If desired, thread perle cotton or floss through
a small gauge darning-style needle, then
lace up from back of tag overlay on side of
wider punched space as shown . . .
. . . pull through to leave a short tail, and anchor
on the backside invisibly with a very small piece
of cello tape.
19. Complete the perle cotton lacing detail by
going down across the wider punch hole space
then up/down all across the lacing holes
to end near the first anchor hole.
The final insertion should travel down to carry
the thread to tag backside.
Trim short end and anchor with cello tape piece.
20. Position laced tag front over lower portion
of the tag base that includes the tab extension,
centered side to side, and attach.
21. Prepare the envelope by bending back on
all flange tabs at edges of three triangle flaps,
positioning and attaching tabs to backside
of main envelope shape with side flap that
includes punch hole in the side position.
flange perf edge aligned at squared edge
of base.

22. To use envelope with the teddy rocker card,
Open flaps outward, place rocker card in its flattened
configuration over center square, then fold top, bottom
and side flaps inward.
Thread narrow ribbon through side flap punch holes,
then through tag base, then tie in double knot
and trim ends.
