These action cards are surprisingly easy to
assemble.
Leaf card above (see video below),
has mirror-image front and back leaf shapes
that join to back leaf panel at tip.
Pumpkin card (see second video)
has layered front shapes and stem
that join to back
panel near top.
For either, internal ‘arms’ mechanism holds accordion-
folded panel that
provides the action.
card front to open and see panels spread wide.
Offset
accent shapes provide scope to use coordinated
prints and panels (four panels
can alternately be decorated
with stamps or sentiments or
as a story board for
specialty prints).
Add embellishments, then tie to close
with encased ribbon.
Leaf card measures approx. 6.5” wide x 6.75” tall when closed.
Pumpkin card measures approx. 5” wide x 7” tall when closed.
The assembly of these two designs follows closely
the rectangle version of the twist and pop cards
which can be studied in that tutorial here. The steps that
are unique to these designs are shown in this tutorial,
with Leaf version shown first, Pumpkin version
beginning with Step 8.
LEAF TWIST & POP CARD
1. Identify and cut the shapes:
A card base front (includes tip perforations)
B card front accent (includes tip perforations)
C & D card front accent base and accent rectangle
E card base back F card back accent
G twist and pop mechanism
H interior accent panel
J 'arms' accent rectangles (4)
I 'arms' base strip
2. Prepare the card base FRONT shape by bending
forward at the very short perf line near top tip.
3. Position the front card base and back card base
shapes back-to-back, align edges and glue the tips
together so that . . .
. . . the card base can hinge open as shown here.
4. Refer to the "Rectangle Twist and Pop Cards"
tutorial Steps 2-4 to prepare the 'arms' strip shape
and interior mechanism shape,
then prepare to position and attach it
to the inside face of the Leaf card back by locating
the center of the 'seam' that joins front and back.
tutorial, Steps 6B through 17 to add interior accent
panel, prepare and attach the 'arms' panel with accents,
add front panel accents, back ribbon and accent leaf,
and to complete the card with tied ribbon.

PUMPKIN TWIST & POP CARD
8. Identify and cut the shapes:
A card front base (with perforation along top)
B card back base
C card front accent pumpkin
(NOTE: in final design, stem portion is removed)
D card back pumpkin accent
E front center pumpkin segment F stem
G twist and pop mechanism H interior accent rectangle
I front accent base J front accent rectangle
K 'arms' panels strip L 'arms' accent panels (4)
11. Position the front pumpkin accent over front base
so that the perforation fold edges nest together.
accent shapes and base will easily bend
to open with perforations all lined up.
Add and attach the stem above the center segment.

so that the perforation fold edges nest together.
12. Position and attach the middle front
segment in the same manner, matching
the perforation lines, and centering the shape.
Make sure that all of the glued-together frontaccent shapes and base will easily bend
to open with perforations all lined up.
Add and attach the stem above the center segment.
13. Refer to the "Twist and Pop Rectangle Cards"
tutorial, Steps 2 - 3 to prepare the 'arms' strip
