Halloween or Autumn Flag Trio A2 Cards

Focus of this tutorial is the spiders variation
of the Trio Flags card. Assembly for the other designs
is very similar.
Here’s a great chance to feature favorite papers
and prints: a trio of seasonal icons layered over
double-pointed paper “flags” in simple
Halloween or autumn season card which measures
approx. 4.25” wide x 5.5” tall when side-fold closed.
The four cards in this set include
spiders, ghosts, pumpkins and maple leaves.

ASSEMBLY: 1. Identify and cut the shapes:
A card base   B card front panel
C flag or banner strips in 3 sizes
(NOTE that if you are still deciding on final positions
among 3 selected paper prints, you can cut
sample flags from "waste" stock for the smaller 2 flags
as length trim templates, AND cut all 3 flags
to the longest length, make positioning decision,
and trim the short and mid length as decided0
D positioning guide for flags and figures (spiders)
E three spider figures with eye contrast ovals
2. Position the contrast eye oval behind the spider
so it shows through the eye holes, and edges are
concealed by spider cut edges. Press under a heavy
flat weight until dry, if possible.
3. To guide positioning of flags across front panel
upper edge, lay the positioning guide at the TOP
of the front panel with edges even and make light
pencil marks at top cut out edges as shown.
In this image, note the 4 pencil guide marks
across the top of front panel.
4. Position and attach the left-most flag at marks.
Next, position the right-most flag at the right mark,
then . . .
. . . position and attach the middle flag
and the final mark nearest the center of panel.
5. Reposition the positioning guide as before . . .
to make light marks where they will best help you
position the spiders. (For the model, marks were made
at the transition corner angle where upper body edge
meets the top leg.) Repeat for all three positions.
NOTE that for some of the simpler shapes featured
on other Autumn Flag Trios, it may be just as easy
to position the first figure shape over the guide's cutout,
place and attach it thru the opening, then repeat for
the remaining figures in the same manner
(without making pencil marks and moving guide).
6. Position and attach the spiders, one by one,
beginning at the top and working downward,
so that the lowest figure overlaps the previous one.
Press the glued-up front panel under a heavy flat weight
until attachment is complete and dry, helping to avoid
warping or curling of glued-up shapes.
7. Position and attach the front panel over
the front portion of the folded and creased
card base.
