Welcome to the newly created blog for 

Jodi G. Warner and Hearthsewn Patterns.

This is just the START of the fun we will have together using this wonderful communication tool!  Soon you will find information and illustrated instruction that I hope will enhance your ability to create quilting projects using techniques incorporated in my published patterns. My aim will be to provide step-by-step, photo-guided tutorials that will be nearly as helpful as attending a quilt making class with me. These techniques will include: machine paper foundation piecing, hand piecing, traced diagonal seam line piecing for half square triangle and flying geese units, five-square yield four flying geese, English paper piecing, fusible applique, punch dot hand applique, and more.

I will also keep this blog updated with new Hearthsewn Patterns designs as each is released. Earlier this summer I published a fun new Halloween count-off banner quilt titled Haunty Jaunt. Enclosed, hidden 
metal washers provide the magnetic connection for the separate, dimensional bat (its body is a painted half-egg wooden shape) that moves up the tower day after day to reach the moon on Halloween.

Another design currently on the drawing board will be a Christmas growth chart banner quilt where children (or grand children) can note their heights at Christmas each year (and compare with how tall they were last year). It will feature "stacked" whimsical elves, pin-on data tags where name, height and date can be penned. Also planned is a wall banner Nativity quilt where blocks of the significant characters (or groups) can be snapped into place as Advent moves forward, or to tell the beginning of the greatest story ever told.

You may be interested in a very popular mini banner series called On The Docket which features a small (and quick) quilt for each month of the year, with cross-stitched month name tag. I also have found a comfortable niche as a designer/publisher of LDS interest quilting patterns. These include small blocks of a dozen temple buildings, two larger temple quilt designs, a marriage celebration wall quilt, thematic designs with youth organization appeal, and more. The most recent addition to this collection is a simplified version  and collection of previously popular blocks titled Nauvoo: A Patchwork Postcard. 

Along similar lines, I have discovered a wealth of creative motivation, stimulation and reward as I have prepared art quilts for the triennial International Art Competition sponsored by the LDS Museum of Church History & Art. Several of my pieces have been purchased by the Museum to be part of their collection. Of recent note is the publication (a second time) of "Angel's Portion: Seeking Virtue" in the June 2012 issue of Ensign magazine. This quilt was purchased by a private collector.  More information is available in a separate post where you can view images from the competition quilts.

I am also embarking on an adventure as a project stylist for my incredibly talented and creative daughter Kenzie Daley of Daley Designs and Snapdragon Snippets. This means you will view fun creative projects and tutorials that will assist you to make them using Kenzie's Silhouette digital cutting tool designs.
