Christmas Cookie Cards Assembly

Two shaped Christmas cookie cards evoke
the smells of the holiday kitchen.
Lattice Holly cookie card and
Pretzel Holly card each fit into a 5x5 envelope
and are top-hinged.
Large, basic shaped speed construction.
Pretzel top layer is cut in sections, joined,
then "dough" arms weave over-under
to hide seams.

NOTE: Pretzel card follows the Lattice Cooke card.
LATTICE COOKIE CARD
ASSEMBLY: 1. Identify and cut the shapes:
A scallop card front   B scallop card back
C cookie lattice cutout front with "filling" circle behind
D cookie lattice cutout extra build up shapes (2)
E holly accent assembly: base/leaves,
contrast leaf halves l & r, berry base, single berries (2)
2. Position and attach the 2 extra cookie lattice shapes
plus the front shape to give
the cookie front dimension, taking care
to align all cut edges as accurately as possible
(here and throughout).
Consider using a flat weight to keep glued-up shapes
flat during drying if using liquid adhesive.
3. Optional: add some "sugar" glitter sprinkles
for extra fun to lattice front layer.
The sample uses crystal glitter.
4. Position and attach the "filling" circle behind
the lattice openings of the build-up assembly.
5. Prepare the card back base by bending forward
at the perforation.
Position card back over backside of front
with center tops aligned as well as all
scallop edges, and attach the "hinge" panel to card front.
Here is the completed card on display.
PRETZEL COOKIE CARD
6. Identify and cut the shapes:
A pretzel card front with top perforation hinge
B pretzel base (larger offset)
C pretzel main shapes (4 unique shapes)
holly accent assembly: base/leaves,
contrast leaf halves l & r, berry base, single berries (2)

7. Position the pretzel "halves" as shown with
cross-cut joints abutted. Join these together
at seams with a tiny piece of cellophane tape
on backside.

8. Overlay the two halves to line up the center joint
in similar manner, attaching with tape piece.
NOTE that the joining seam
of the halves will be hidden under the cross arm.
9. "Weave" the pretzel arms over/under as shown
so that the right half curve overlaps
the upper left seam, then under the left arm extension
(hiding underlapped seam), and then over
the half-joining seam as shown here.
10. Position the main pretzel shape over the offset base
and arrange it so that there is an even offset all around
and inner pretzel is laying down the center.
Glue in place, re-adjusting for most perfect fit
and arrangement as gluing proceeds.
Consider using a flat weight to keep glued-up shapes
flat during drying if using liquid adhesive.
11. Position the pretzel assembly onto the card front,
adjust for even offset all around, except at hinge
straight top edge, and glue in place.
12. Prepare the holly decoration by layering
leaf halves onto silhouette/leaf base,
attaching berries base silhouette, then adding
individual berries where edges will align.
Here are the completed cookie cards.
