Santa Door Knob Hanger

Decorate with a stylized St. Nick,
whose curved hat hooks around a knob.
Inlays and overlays create features and details.
Optional loose treat thin box can attach to backside.
Hanger measures approx. 3.75” wide x 8.75 long;
box compartment (opens with top flap) measures
approx. 2.75” wide x 4” tall x 1” deep.

ASSEMBLY 1. Identify and cut the shapes:
A main hanger base     B Santa hat overlay
C hat tassel scalloped circles:
cut 1 set for front; opt. cut 1 set for back
D hat fur trim contr. base and overlay
E eye insets and mouth inset
F beard contrast overlay
G cheek circle insets, mustache, smile
H face   I beard overlay
J optional treats box
2. Complete pre-assembly by positioning and attaching
smaller tassel circle at center of larger (complete 2
sets if planning to attach second set to back);
position hat fur trim overlay on top of base shape,
aligning all outer edges of both shapes and attaching.
3. Position hat hook shape over top front face of
hanger base, align edges and attach; position lower
face/beard contr. overlay below hat hook shape,
align edges, and attach.
4. Position eye contrast and mouth contrast
shaped into recess cut outs and attach.
5. After shape overlays are attached (here
and through next steps as others are added),
press flat with heavy flat object such as this large
book volume, and leave in place until shapes
are completed attached in place.
6. Position beard overlay onto lower portion
of hanger assembly, abutting top straight
short edges next to hat hanger lower edge,
adjust so outer edge align, and attach in place.
7. Position tassel assembly, centered over
hat hook tip end and attach; position and
attach face inset into corresponding position
below hat lower edge and above beard.
7. Position smile at bottom center mouth
cut out edge and attach; position mustache,
centered above smile with end curls extending
back over face side edges, and attach in place.
8. Position hat fur trim assembly at bottom edge
of hat hook shape. Then . . .
. . . slip cheek shapes into place
at mustache cut outs,
9. Prepare the box by bending back on all perforation
lines for panels, tabs and flaps.
10. Form the box by bending on panel perforation
lines with face side outward. At side, overlap the side
wall panel over the opposite flange, adjust and
glue in place.
One easy way to join this seam is to flatten the box
and apply pressure along the joining edges.
11. At bottom, bend the side tabs inward,
back flap down, front flap over the top and glue
all securely.
12. At top, bend the side tabs inward, bend
the top flap down and tuck the rounded end flap
behind the front panel, and push in fully.
13. With the box fully closed, apply a quick grab
adhesive such as the "Fabri-Tack" shown for
this model onto backside near all edges. Then . . .
. . . center the box over the backside of
the hanger assembly and attach in place.
Once dried and secure, the box can be
opened at the top flap . . .
. . . and filled with treats before closing again
to be ready for gifting.
