Box Mini Candy Tabs Top

This tiny treat box can serve as table guest marker 

or to enhance gift packaging. 

Box is cut as one piece with bottom fold and 

latch closure, top fold-to-center front and back flaps 

with punch hole tab extensions where side flaps 

fold inward to slot over then tied with twine or 

soft ribbon. Inside, protect from candy oil transfer 

by cutting and inserting the parchment 

or waxed paper “liner”. 

A separate design is also available with

front panel heart window.

Box measures approx. 1.75” wide 

x 1.75” deep x 1.25” tall.

The two box styles are essentially identical, except that

the heart window box has an optional clear window panel

that is placed, behind the window prior to assembly.

ASSEMBLY: 1. Identify and cut the shapes.

For the plain box:

A main one-piece hull

B opt. interior liner (cut from parchment or

waxed paper to prevent chocolate oils bleed-thru)

For the heart window box:

C main one-piece hull

D clear window liner panel

E opt. interior liner (cut from parchment or

waxed paper to prevent chocolate oils bleed-thru)

2. Prepare the hull shape by bending back on

all perforation lines for walls, bottom latch tabs,

top walls, except . . .

. . . bend forward  under the top tie extensions.

3. Form the hull into a tube to align and join

the side seam. Allow to dry if using liquid adhesive.

4. Close the bottom by interlocking the latch extensions:

A) fold the back shape inward

B) fold the side shapes inward

C) fold the "tongue" shape inward and allow 

the previous shapes to depress beyond perpendicular

so that the tongue tab can eventually . . .

. . . slot into the narrow opening created by

the overlap of the edges. 

D) Allow the bottom panels to return to their

perpendicular position. If needed, invert the box

to upright and insert fingertips to press outward.

5. If the planned contents are chocolate or something

similar that may involve "bleed" of oil or surface material,

consider cutting and inserting a protective liner

such as parchment paper shown here.

Bend into a loosely-formed tray shape by bending

along the perforation lines for square bottom panel

and side corners plus miter corner bend.

Then slip it into the box's interior and press down

so it is fully in position.

6. Insert contents (yum!!), and then . . .

. . .  bend the front and back panels inward with

tabs extending upward.

Finally, bend the side flaps down so that

the large slot fits over the tab extensions.

7. To secure the closure, insert and tie twine

or narrow soft ribbon, and tie knot and bow.

Here is the finished box.

8. For the heart window variation, complete step 2

folding of the hull, then prepare the clear window panel

by attaching narrow double-stick tape along the panel's

edges.

Remove tape's liner, then position the panel within

the heart panel-defining perf edges on the backside

of the hull, and attach in place. Make sure that

the perforation lines can still bend normally.

9. Form the hull into a tube to align and join

the side seam. Allow to dry if using liquid adhesive.

10. Follow Steps 4, 5 (arrange opt. liner so that

the shaping of front panel aligns to avoid blocking

hear window), and 6 to complete the box.
