Bunny Rolled Cash Holder Gift

Choose this whimsical way to deliver Easter
(or birthday) cash to tuck inside a basket,
hide as part of a hunt, or use as unique Easter
meal guest place card.
Bunny with hollow ears is peeking over the top of
a slotted “marquee” where a (US) paper bill has been
rolled for safe keeping and clever gifting.
Bunny layers are cut from kraft colored (or your choice)
card stock and glued into a stack to imitate tag board.
Head front layer is cut with recesses for placing tiny eyes
and nose, giving bunny some character.
Paws are also cut separately and overlaid for definition
separate marquee layer. If desired, front marquee layer
can be prepared with “print & cut” techniques so
cash holder can be personalized.
Cash holder measures approx. 4.875” tall x 3.5” wide
(with up to 1/8” stacked depth) when fully assembled.
Optional shapes also included:
1) fold-together back easel stand;
2) back band to secure rolled bill.

ASSEMBLY: 1. Identify and cut the parts
A main shape bunny head/paws/marquee fused
(cut 6-7 to stack and glue into one thick shape)
B bunny head/paws partial welded overlay
C marquee separate shape overlay
(NOTE that H is the same shape cut using
the "print & cut" process to include guest name)
D paws overlays    E eye & nose insets
F optional easel-style stand attachment to fold
G optional tabbed band to secure bill in place
2. Be aware that the marquee portion of main shapes
and the separate marquee overlay include
a partially cut end of the "bar" where the rolled
bill will eventually be inserted. But do not separate
this bar now since it is easier to do the layering
and gluing together steps with it still connected.
At the appropriate time in the assembly,
the bar can separate from the main shape
by blade-scoring and pushing it "open".
3. Layer the main shapes quickly into a stack, with
glue applied between each shape, taking care to
align the slots and all cut edges as precisely
as possible, so that it appears to be one thick unit.
Immediately press the stack under a flat heavy weight
such as this thick book volume, with something else
heavy placed on top of book. Leave the weights in place
for several hours or over night (once additional shapes
are added to complete the design). Pressing in this manner
is essential to help the multiple layers assembled with
liquid adhesive stay flat, avoid warping or curling that
is part of using liquid glue.
4. Position and attach the head overlay (which helps
define the bunny's chin line), and the separate marquee
over the top of the stacked assembly, precisely
aligning all the cut edges as completed in step 3.
5. Position and attach the eyes and nose insets
into their corresponding recesses of the head overlay.
Return the assembly to the weight-pressing arrangement
and leave to completely dry.
6. Position and attach the paw overlays.
Press again as desired.
7. Prepare the bunny money holder by "cutting"
the slot bar end mentioned in step 2, using
a semi-sharp tool to "cut" through the partial line
perforation cuts until the bar can slightly pivot.
8. Use a narrow dowel or round pencil to roll
the selected paper money tightly into a roll. Then . . .
. . . flex the bar only slightly as needed to insert
the separated bar end into the bill's tube.
Slide fully onto the bar.
9. Reposition the bar into its flush original place,
then apply glue to backside of tiny "security strip",
and insert it inside the roll so that it crosses
the bar's cut edge. Align the outer end with
the edge of marquee (suggestion).
NOTE that it will be helpful to use s rod tool such
as the handle end of the spatula, or a pencil barrel,
to insert into the tube to apply pressure there
where fingertip can't reach.
10. You may wish to choose from the two choices
for further securing the bill in the desired position,
which is forward on the front.
A. For the simple tabbed strip, bend tabs at perforations,
add a bit of back curl to the middle to imitate the rolled bill.
Position strip, centered, on the backside of bunny,
adjust as needed, and secure the tabs in place.
B. For the folded easel, first bend the shape
back at the vertical center perforation intermittent line . . .
. . .allowing the tabs to "pop" out left (top) and right.
Glue the inside faces together where they touch.
Press until thoroughly dry.
Position at center as shown, with the tabs bent at
perpendicular so they can attach to bunny backside . . .
. . . and make sure that the bottom inward easel edge
is even or short of the marquee bottom edge.
Press tabs for secure connection.
Here are some images showing the bunny completed.
