Bunnies 3D EASTER Ensemble

A small cluster of dimensional bunnies, each built
as a box with a base that fits into the bottom
of the body dome, with contrast tummy overlays (or eggs?)
with letter cutouts that spell out “EASTER”.
(Or leave the tummy ovals off – the letter cutouts are also
cut through front panels, with contrast panel behind.)
The bunnies come in three sizes for
specific position in the word – slightly taller and wider –
for variety, with dimensional ears, cutout eyes
and nose (with eye underlay panel and slip-in nose)
and whiskers.
Smallest measures approx. 4.5” tall;
tallest approx. 5.25” tall; all are 1.25” deep.

ASSEMBLY:  1. Identify and cut the shapes
(each box will need this set of shapes, specific
to the letter of the word EASTER):
A front panel   B boxing strip
C back panel     D tummy or egg panel
E letter contrast (show-thru)
F ears left & right    G inner ears left & right
H eye contrast (show-thru)
I whiskers left & right  J nose & nose underlay
K base "box"
Shown here are the other letter sets of shapes.
2. Position the eye contrast underlay on
the front panel backside so that the bottom of
shape is a narrow margin below nose opening,
and glue in place.
3. Position the letter contrast panel behind the letter
cutout, and below the eye contrast, above bottom
edge of panel . . .
. . .  center and glue in place.
5. Prepare the nose shape by layering the nose
on top of the overlay, and gluing together.
6. Position the nose with highlight at "2 o'clock"
into the nose cutout recess, and glue in place.
7. Determine when you want to position and
attach the tummy/egg letter cutout overlay onto
the front panel. This can be done at this point
in the assembly, or wait until after Step 16
when the box "dome" assembly is complete.
8. Position the left and right whiskers at
each side of nose, and attach in place.
9. Match up the ear (base) and contrast inner ear
by comparing the bottom tab angle direction,
then position inner ear on top of base, with tab
side and bottom edges aligned . . .
. . . then glue together, adjusting inner ear edges
to be have a base ear margin showing at edges.
10. Prepare the hull boxing strip by bending back
on all the cross perforations, also bending all the
tabs back on both sides.
11. Identify the cut numeral in the end tab of
each boxing strip if necessary to identify which
size body it corresponds with:
1 = shortest for E & R; 2 = middle size for A & T;
3 = tallest for E & S.
12. Prepare to attach the boxing strip to the body
front panel by lining up the top body edge with
the middle segment on one edge as shown, then . . .
. . . overlap the body straight edge over tab to perf
line, adjust from side to side so the two are centered
with each other, and join the tab in place.
13. Bend the boxing strip into position so that it aligns
with the next segment of hull edge, and glue in place.
Repeat with each edge and segment until all edges
and tabs are attached to bottom of first side of hull.
14. Repeat for the second side of front panel.
15. Insert tab of first ear into the top slot on
boxing and push in until bottom tab perforation(s)
stop at slot edge. Then . . .
. . . bend the tabs toward back on the strip's underside,
and glue in place.
15. Repeat with the second ear to insert tab in
front of first ear tab through slot, then . . .
. . . bend back on underside and glue in place.
Apply glue between ears where they overlap,
and join to help keep the ears up right.
16. Position the back panel over the back boxing
tabs, attach center top as with front boxing,
then work around each edge to position and attach
all along both sides, reaching fingertips up inside
to apply pressure to attach tabs.
17. Prepare the base box by bending back on
all perforations for panel sections and tabs.
18. Identify the side tab numeral cut as needed
to make sure the appropriate base matches
with the corresponding size body.
(Of course, if you have cut matching bases,
it may already be obvious.)
20. Bend front and back panels upward, side
"boxing" panels into position with tabs tucked back,
align edge with perforation line,
and glue each of the four side seams.
21. Consider preparing a small weighted pellet
bag to help the bunnies each have a bit more
"gravity" to stay in place for display, by filling
a generous 1/4 cup of doll filler pellets or equivalent
into a small plastic bag, closing and "sealing" bag, then . . .
. . . insert bag into base, and attach with a bit of glue.
22. Insert base into bottom of hull, and slide
up into position, pausing . . .
. . . before fully pushed in to apply glue along
the bottom margin of base, then . . .
. . . fully pushing so that base and body bottom
edges are flush. Apply pressure around bottom
to secure the components together.
23. Complete all six bunnies, then arrange
for display.
