Pumpkin Pie 3D Wedge Box with Cream

Box composed of imitation pie slice LID which fits snugly
over triangular BASE.
Pie details include top wedge, side wall “crust” rim,
crust crimps at upper back.
Eight-part “slice-form” whip cream dollop
attaches to top wedge accent shape.
Designed to fit as a set of 6 into companion design
“Pie Tin 3D Tray”.
Consider including the "Spice it up"  or "Sweetie Pie"
tag companion designs to complete your ensemble.
Wedge measures approx. 2.875 center length (bottom dimension)
and 3.25” at top tip to crimp seams; height .875” tall body
and 1.1875” at crimp back, 2.125” tall to tip of whip cream.

ASSEMBLY: 1. Identify and cut the shapes:
A slice LID hull   B slice LID hull back wall
C crust lower edge accent for hull side walls
D accent wedge shape for top of hull
E crust crimps regular (4)
F crust right end crimp
G whipped cream slices (8)
NOTE: these shapes are best cut from 65 lb stock
or lighter weight, which is the same on both sides
H BASE box
2. The pie wedge box basic assembly for LID and
for BASE are virtually identical to the pie slice box.
Follow this LINK to view tutorial steps, beginning with
step 2, then return to assemble the whipped cream
as shown in steps 3 - 13 below.
3. Prepare the 8 slices for the "slice form" cream dollop
by bending forward at vertical center perforation.
NOTE: that each slice will have the connection tab
on the right lower half as indicated.
4. Use a narrow diameter rod tool such as this skewer
or a very fine knitting needle or crochet hook to add
curl to each half: back curl to the right half with tab . . .
and forward curl to the left half, so that both halves
spiral in counter clockwise direction as shown here
as viewed from the top. NOTE that it is fairly tight curl.
5. Begin the assembly of the cream dollop halves
by aligning the first two of four slices faces outward
so that the right half of first slice and left half of second
fit together as shown.
Apply glue and join the two aligned surfaces together,
taking care to align the joining cut edges as precisely
as possible, also aligning the center perforation folds
to stack.
6. Position and add the third slice in the same fashion,
continuing to align the cut edges of the two halves
being joined back to back precisely. Also NOTE . . .
. . . as mentioned before that the perforation folds
should stack in a precise manner as each slice
is added, as shown here. Apply pressure to
lock in the center folds.
7. Add the fourth slice in the same manner
to complete the first half.
8. Follow steps 5-7 to complete a second half
of the slice form dollop.
9. Prepare to join the 2 halves together by aligning
them back to back, then joining the two halves
that correspond in similar joining process as for
joining pairs of slices in previous steps.
10. Prepare the accent wedge shape by ensuring that
the tab slots for cream dollop are fully open.
Here the tip of a spatula blade is being inserted
into slots to fully open each one.
11. Position the completed dollop form on top of
the accent wedge, align the tabs with slots and
insert tabs and push slots fully inward.
NOTE that the slice tips will need to be "encouraged"
into their original "tight" curl to allow tabs to be inserted.
On backside of wedge shape, bend the tabs outward
and glue each in place.
12. Position the dollop/wedge accent onto the hull
shape and align curved back edge with the perf cuts
of the back tabs. One way to ensure that shape is
fully aligned at perf lines is to bend each tab up
to push against while positioning. Glue the assembly
in place.
HINT: for the model, dry adhesive double-stick perm tape
was applied to the hull top shape where wedge accent
would sit - near angle perf lines, along back curved edge,
and a bit in the middle.
13. Return to the plain pie box assembly TUTORIAL
to complete remaining assembly of hull and base,
including the positioning and attachment of the
back wall panel as shown here, steps 11 through to end.
14. If you choose to add one of the pie print & cut tags,
use a small gauge punch to add a hole to selected
crust crimp shape (such as the one that is just right
of center), then use twine to tie tag in place.
Or you may decide to duplicate 6 pumpkin pie slice
boxes to fill the companion 3D pie tin design
as a gift box container.
