Asters Flower Trio Easel Card

Two folds form three panels for this cheery 

stand-up card. Detailed, short water can on front panel 

catches at bottom panel’s stop tabs, 

with a trio of leafy autumn aster stems extending upward, 

topped off with three-petal 

 layer flowers and accent centers. 

A diminutive tag can be twine-tied onto the tall stem 

to include a penned name or stamped greeting. 

Card can be disengaged into flat form for tucking 

into envelope or sleeve. (Coordinated envelope 

Water Can Flap for Easel Card design is available.) 

Measures approx. 9.125” x 4.44” wide x 

3.82” deep when standing. 

ASSEMBLY: 1. Identify and cut the shapes:

A card base with two perforation lines/folds

(this should be card stock that appears the same

on both front and back)

B bottom interior accent panel with "stop" tabs

C water can base silhouette

D top rim accent

E checker base panel, checker squares, top & bottom trim

F spout channel with three dot rivet circles

G spout sprinkler end and center accent strip

H heart

I handle scroll base and accent

J flower shapes: '1' bottom; '2' middle; 'T' top (3 sets)

K name or sentiment tag

L flower center: 2 ball end discs; large and small circles

(3 sets)

M stems base and reinforcement   N three stems with leaves

O & P stem (folded) stiffener strips for tall, medium flowers

2. Begin assembly of water can by positioning

checker base panel on bottom of silhouette base;

handle scroll accent onto base, trim strip onto

spout sprinkler.

3. Continue assembly by positioning and joining:

checker connected squares onto base panel;

spout, top trim and handle scroll unit.

4. Complete water can assembly by positioning

and attaching: spout sprinkler unit; checker trim strips,

rivets and heart.

(RECOMMENDED: press the glued-up assembly under

a heavy, flat weight until thoroughly dried.)

5. Prepare the card base by bending BACK on

each of the perforations. This image shows how

the base will configure as the 'easel".

6. Prepare the interior accent panel by popping up

the 'stop' tabs, then . . . 

. . . position and attach on the bottom interior face

of the case base, offset all around.

Take care that the 'stop' tabs DO NOT attach.

7. Position the bottom of the stems reinforcement panel

with the top edge of the card base extension, as shown,

with side and bottom edges aligned, and straight

edges between stems aligned at perforation fold,

and glue in place.

8. Prepare to shape and assemble the asters by

noting the number of letter symbols cut into the flowers

discs near center alignment square hole.

Pictured here is 'T' to indicate the 'top' petal disc.

The others are: '1' for bottom or first; and

'2' for middle or second.

Use a ball end stylus tool or equivalent with spongy

work surface to gently press down in the center

circle area of each disc to indent the disc slightly.

Use a narrow stylus tip to curl each of the petals in

each disc back near tips.

9. Layer the discs in order (1 bottom, 2 middle, T top),

gluing each layer in place, after lining up

the center alignment squares, with the result

that the petals offset as shown by pointing finger.

Position and attach the T layer with 

center square aligned . . .

. . . double checking that petals offset.

10. Prepare the center units by positioning and aligning

center square of the fringy discs (stem/balls will offset)

then gluing together. Then . . . 

. . . position and attach the large circle

to complete the unit.

Position and attach the large center onto petals

assembly with squares aligned, then position

and attach the small circle, centered over large circle.

11. Position and attach one blossom unit onto

the front top of each stem, centered over

the positioning square within top circle.

12. Prepare the stiffening strips by folding in half

along the perforation (backsides together)

then applying fingertip pressure and pressing

under flat weight until thoroughly dry and stiff.

13. Position corresponding length strip units

on backside of tallest and middle size stem/flower

units, with bottom edges even. (Middle short

stem should not require the additional support.)

NOTE that top end will be longer than top of

stem/leaf unit; attach to very top.

14. Position tallest and mid length stems on top of

the stem reinforcement panel, bottom ends aligned

as shown, and attach to panel where surfaces touch.

Then position and attach the middle stem unit.

15. Prepare to attach the top of the water can assembly

by noting where the top of the can where match up

to the top of the reinforcement panel (pointing finger).

Apply glue to the trapezoid panel portion, then

overlay the water can, align and attach in place.

NOTE that it may be helpful to reverse the assembly

face down to check alignment, apply pressure.

16. If desired, cut a length of coordinated twine

to tie the prepared (penned or stamped) tag

to the top portion of tallest stem as shown.

NOTE that pleasing presentation may involve

glue-tacking label in preferred position.

However, if the label extends beyond card base

side edge, it cannot be enclosed in the coordinated

envelope design.

Here is the completed card in standing format.

NOTE that it may help with the stability of the three

stems to glue-tack layers to each other where

they overlap.

Here is a side view, showing how the bottom

of the water can "catches" at the accent panel's tabs.

The card can be laid flat as shown here,

by bending base behind the can and flower stems.

This is the format . . . 

. . . that will allow it to fit into the coordinated and

sized to fit Env Water Can Flap envelope design.

Take care when inserting to be sure petal edges don't

catch at envelope edges. It is a snug fit.

Then close the envelope to be prepared to give.
