Shamrock Vintage 3D Basket

Vintage style decoration or gift container features
walls and base that are thickened by layering
4-5 cut shapes for the look of chipboard.
Side outer and front/back inner walls include
connecting tabs that fit into corresponding slots
to adjacent walls or base.
Built-up layered shaped handle has inner bottom nibs
that fit into small slots on side walls.
Decorate front and back with scalloped offset accent shamrock
with squared-off lower extension,
plain offset shamrocks and layered two-circle medallion.
(Use smallest circle as a template to trace and hand cut
accent shape from special panel printed panel,
if desired, as is seen in the model project;
St. Patrick’s Day print shown is NOT included in this file.)

Add other embellishments of ribbon and
tiny fabric posies, as desired.
Simple plaque label also provided for
embellishment on front below hearts.
Basket measures approx. 5.5” wide x 3.75” deep
x 6.25” tall at handle height.

ASSEMBLY: 1. Identify and cut the shapes:
A front & back inside walls with slots (2)
B front & back wall build up (2 sets of 4) with
outer contrast layer (1 pair)
C side outer walls with edge tabs (1 pair)
D side wall build up (2 sets of 4)
E base top layer with slots
F base build up layers (4)
G front accent scallop base layer
H front accent shamrock plain base
I shamrock accent
J medallion contr. base with traced & cut inner circle
K front label bracket
L opt. tracing template with waste frame
2. This project is assembled in the same manner
as a different project, the "Heart 3D Handle Basket"
Click on the project link above to go to the tutorial,
then follow steps 2-3 there to begin the assembly,
including determining how many of the basket handles
to cut and layer for build up, etc.
3. Follow step 4 to assemble the main wall shapes
with the contrast "green" face shape on top of the wall
stack of B shapes as shown in layout frame.
4. Follow step 5 to assemble the base shapes,
noting that the TOP 'E' "green" facelayer of base
is NOT attached at this point in assembly.
5. Follow steps 6 & 7 to assemble the side wall stacks . . .
. . . with the contrast "green" face layer assembled
on top of the stack.
Then return for specific instructions in the following
steps that illustrate one way to prepare a specialty
print "cameo" medallion circle decoration.

6. To use the medallion (inner) circle as a tracing
template, set up on the digital cutter so that
the circle shape has enough space around it
to result in a "frame" with the circle cutout inside.
Once the circle is "weeded" away, retain it
and also trim the "waste" into a usable frame.
7. Position the frame over the specialty print
(shown here is Authentique's "Shamrock Six"
two-Sided Paper SHA006) to select the image
to be featured.
There are several choices from this print,
including this one, and . . .
. . . this one.
8. Hold the frame in its final position as the circle
template is re-placed into the circle window.
Next, hold the circle in place as the frame
is carefully removed, so that . . .
. . . a fine pencil tracing line can be made
around the circle template. Remove the circle.
Carefully scissors cut on the traced line.
Layer with the contrast larger circle to
prepare the medallion unit.
9. Continue the accent front panel by layering
the scallop offset base with the plain offset base
(cream solid here) and the shamrock accent shape.
(NOTE: the file includes an offset larger shamrock
shape that can be cut and attached with matched
edges to the cream shape base, but not shown here.)
Position and attach the circle unit on the center
of the shamrock accent.
10. Return to the "Heart 3D Handle Basket" tutorial
and follow steps 11-19 to complete the shamrock basket.
11. Add ribbon loop and purchased . . .
. . . or built flower embellishments to complete
the vintage basket for your St Patrick's Day decor.
