Heart Windows Teacher Card 5x7

Eye-catching rectangle “window” openings have
heart outlines welded in to create space to show thru
water color artwork that can be created by you
or your young artist for a unique “thank you” card.
Alternatively, select and cut colorful paper print
for the show-thru panel.
(NOTE that the rainbow color wash design is
NOT included in cut file.)
Customize for “teacher” recipient with included
scriptive  word cut out.
Card measures approx. 5” x 7” when side folded.
Other customized recipient welded words are available,
sized to fit, to be “borrowed” from separate files:

ASSEMBLY: 1. Identify and cut the shapes:
A card base with vertical center perforation
B water color painted blend panel
(alternatively, cut panel from colorful print)
C card front hearts & windows cutouts
D welded word overlay "teacher"
2. If preparing the water color blend panel,
obtain schoolhouse watercolor set such as
this one from Crayola.
3. Use the front cut out accent panel to lightly pencil corner
guide marks on the center of a heavy water color sheet.
Shown below is the 6x9 pad that was used in this project.
Water color paper is also available as overside single
sheets through art supply or craft suppliers such as
Hobby Lobby, Michael's or JoAnn Fabrics.
Remove front panel and set aside.
4. Prime the water color pots that will be used
(red, orange, yellow, green, blue - or others of choice)
by adding a 1/4 tsp. or so of clear water, then using
small paint brush to mix the water and paint to
medium concentration.
5. Use a clean foam brush to apply a light water
wash to the marked-off area, then immediately . . .
. . . begin adding diagonal sections of colors in
their rainbow order as listed in step 4 colors.
Be sure to blend across the color divides.
Rinse brush well between color additions.
Use a light hand when touching up after all colors are
added, if additional blending is desired.
Allow painted panel to dry thoroughly, usually about 1 hour.
6. When painted panel is dry, trim to size to
approx. .125" narrower than marked corner
guidelines. (Panel should be smaller than
front accent overlay panel.) If the panel is warpy
from water, press to flatten. Or, use a DRY iron
and press cloth below to dry-press the panel
from backside with a med. hot iron.
7. Position the overlay panel behind the window
cut out and attach edges.
8. Position and attach the "teacher" welded word
cut out over the center of the overlay.
Or, select and add any of the other words shown
as possibilities at the beginning of this post.
9. Fold the card base in half and crease.
Position and attach the front panel assembly,
centered, over the front of the card.
