Heart 3D Frame Double Diamond Card

Suitable as appreciation, friendship, achievement recognition,
“get well” and other occasions, this dimensional card
with multiple fold lines that create the “double diamond”
self-standing base, with a heart cut out at center.
Accent shapes decorate multiple panels
(including the “show-thru” triangles on base’s backside),
with a scalloped heart overlay on front, dimensional heart
that dangles on a twine within the heart window.
Arched “heart of gold” sentiment is contained
on layered banner at top of center square.
Card folds flat into a slightly smaller than 5x5 footprint,
with optional strip to wrap from front to back to secure,
then tear away when recipient is ready to open it.
Consider creating a coordinated envelope with
the separate design “Env Scall Heart Cut Out Flap for 5x5 Card”.

Three other sentiment banners are also available
as separate design ensemble.

ASSEMBLY:  1. Identify and cut the shapes:
A main base panel   B add on end base panel
C enter accent panel, middle accent panels
D end accent panels
E scalloped heart with twine channel,
top layer scalloped heart
F layered banner: top arch,
middle arch (shows as shadow corners)
base bottom banner end points
heart of gold word cut outs
G front & back 'gold' layers (2)
H whole interior layers (2)
I twine slot hearts layers (2)
J backside accent triangles
K optional vellum wrap tear-away closure strip
3. Prepare the base panel by bending on perforations
according to the notations on the following image
as 'valley folds'  where noted, and as 'mountain folds' at
all remaining perforation lines (X lines).
4. Bend the flange of the add-on panel forward as
'valley' fold. Position panel next to right end of main base
panel, overlap main panel edge across flange to perf
line of add-on, adjust top to bottom, and join seam.
Once the panel is joined, refer to step 15 to pre-fold
the panel as described there.
5. Prepare dangler heart with layering shapes shown . . .
. . . by laying  the paired hearts, taking care to
align all cut edges as closely as possible:
center portion with twine channel . . .
. . . front and back pair (sample includes one 'core'
colored shape and face gold sparkle shape) . . .
. . . then layer the middle 'wafer' on top of
the back 'wafer' (NOTE that this image shows
the glitter face side up for understanding of which
layers are being layered - it should be attached with
face/glittered size outward!).
6. Prepare to attach dangling twine: cut a 4-5" length
of twine, add quick grab glue (such as the Fabri-Tack
shown) in the twine channel of middle layers. Then . . .
. . . attach bottom end securely into channel
and press in place until dried. Trim away any
end-overlap.
7. Position and attach the front 'wafer' on top of
the heart stack, concealing and trapping the twine
between, match cut edges precisely.
Immediately press the assembly on flat surface with
heavy flat weight such as this fabric-covered
repurposed weight machine bar, until thoroughly
dried (several hours or overnight) to prevent
or minimize warping or curling caused by
using liquid adhesive.
8. Assemble the banner by positioning and attaching
the front layer on top of the middle shadow layer, aligning
top, sides and most of lower curved edges.
Then, position and attach the front assembly
on top of the base banner ends layer,
aligning cut edges that line up.
9. Position and attach the word cuts across the front
panel, dry-fitting to see where ends of words fall,
then position and attach "heart" and "gold" in place,
with "of" centered between.
NOTE that the baseline of words is slightly above
lower arched edge.
10. Position and attach the bottom scalloped heart layer,
(with twine channel) on center front accent,
aligning window cut edges as precisely as possible.
11. Add a dab of quick grab glue in the scalloped heart
twine channel, then position the heart into the window
with a small amount of space below heart peak,
lay twine into channel and affix in place.
When securely attached in place, trim the excess twine
even with top of slot.
12. Position and attach front scalloped heart layer
to conceal twine. Press under flat weight until dry.
13. Position and attach the side rectangle,
middle triangle accents into perforation-defined
areas of base, with narrow offset space all around.
14. Position and attach the center panel assembly
with window edges aligned as closely as possible
and outer square edges aligned within perf-defined
panel edges.
15. Fold the base panel into closed position
by bending the vertical 'valley' folds back and
easing the 'X' perforations forward . . .
. . . then pushing the X' panels inward toward middle . . .
. . . until the center panel can be flattened on top
of the square footprint of the base as shown.
Apply fingertip pressure to lock the folding in place.
15. With the heart tipped up out of the sight line,
NOTE that the backside folded corners come together
in a '+' configuration behind the window.
To add accent panels that will show through the window,
turn the card base backside-up, then fit the backside
accent triangles onto the triangular spaces defined
by perforations.
NOTE that the triangle 'square' edges should align
AT the panel side edges and perforations so
that the corners that come together when folded
are flush to each other.
Here you can see the accent panels behind the heart.
16. Position and attach the completed banner
assembly, centered, above heart, with top arch
edge even or lower than card base top edge.
(The card is complete after this step.)
17. Use the optional closure band to close the card
for giving, wrap the band with ends concealed
and overlapping at center back. Secure with
appropriate adhesive, such as adhesive dots
or double sided tab.
When recipient is given the card, they can simply
tear through the narrow neck at front to allow
the card to 'pop' open to enjoy and display.
