Discs and Twine Closure Envelope

Simple one-shape square envelope with side seams,
fold-over triangle flap (with opt. reinforcement overlays)
and pair of thickened discs, anchored with regular sized eyelets,
with attached-in-place twine (for flap disc)
to wrap across to front panel disc as closure.
Envelope measures approx. 5”x5” square when closed.
Coordinates in size for the “Card Photo Folded Squares” .

ASSEMBLY: 1. Identify and cut the shapes:
A envelope one-piece base
B twine discs - two sets
(3 to stack for thickness)
C smaller disc stems - two sets
(2 to stack for thickness)
D 9-inch length of twine or perle cotton
for closure
2. Prepare the main envelope body shape by bending back
on all perforation lines for envelope body bottom,
side flange tabs, flap.
3. Layer extra flaps and glue together into a stack
to reinforce the flap, then . . .
. . . position and attach to the outside face of envelope.
Use heavy flat weight to press until glue is dry.
4. Position larger twine circles into a stack with
ALL cut edges aligned carefully, and attach together.
5. Position smaller twine circles into a stack with
ALL cut edges aligned carefully, and attach together.
Position smaller stack on underside of larger stack
with punch hole edges carefully aligned.
Repeat the steps to prepare 2 stacks.
Press under a heavy weight until dry.
6. Position and attach the first circles stack onto
the front body at punch circle.
7. Insert twine end through center hole of remaining
circles stack and glue a short tail to bottom of
smaller circle. (More often, the twine is simply attached
next to the hole under the stack, with intention of
catching and securing with eyelet; twine more directly
travels under discs.)
8. Apply glue to all of smaller circle
exposed face, then . . .
. . . position the stack assembly onto the flap face
with twine directed toward bottom edge of flap,
circle openings aligned carefully, then attach.
11. Position and set eyelets through both circles,
through all layers.
12. Bend the side flanges inward, bend body in half
then align and close side seams.
Prepare for giving by tucking card into
envelope. (Shown is the bendy photo card.)
Bend flap into place to close envelope,
then wrap the twine in figure 8 as shown,
until wrapped a couple of times.
