Heart 3D Shaped Mini Candy Box

Small sized box holds a little measure 

of sweet treats for a special Valentine. 

One-shape box includes front and 

back heart panels, with side wedge gussets, 

back tuck and tab latch (seal with a clear circle or 

heart sticker for extra security). 

Offset heart included as front decoration, 

with simple oval label style tag without punch 

to place on front panel, or with punch to tie to top bridge. 

Measures approx. 4.375” tall x 4.375” wide 

at fullest x 1.5” deep at fullest. 

ASSEMBLY: 1. Identify and cut the shapes:
A heart box main shape
B heart outline overlay
C label (shown is hole-punched version)

2. Prepare the box shape by bending back on all

perforation lines, except  bend 

the end latch tab forward, and  . . . 

. . . at the side gussets, bend the horizontal line

back, (take care to allow creases to extend

only between heart panels/flange, and . . . 

. . . bend the up-angled perf lines as valley folds

(bend forward).

3. Position and attach the optional heart outline

accent shape on the front, offset in an equal

distance from front heart edges.

4. Form the main shape into its box form to bring

the flange tab at one side together with straight

left edge of back heart panel, overlapping

straight edge to gusset perforation line to position

and glue side seam.

NOTE that it is possible to flatten the heart box

to apply fingertip pressure along the seam.

5. Adjust the box to its "volume" form, then

bend the gusset panels inward toward

center, with lobe panels aligning roughly

behind the adjacent lobes of the heart panels.

6. At the back, bend the top latch extension

over to back heart panel, prepare to tuck

the bottom latch tab into the trapezoid cutout,

while at the same time . . . 

. . . bending the smaller tab down to insert

under the top edge of the trapezoid cut out.

The latch will be fully in place with the bottom

tab inserted behind the bottom trapezoid edge.

7. Position the optional label:

option 1: non-punched label at heart

front or back center as shown here; OR

option 2: end-punched version tied to the latch

arm with decorative twine, as shown here.

Ribbon Tie 3d Heart Candy Box

Deliciously sweet Valentines Day gift box to hold candy, 

or - with platform added - a gift card.

Box is composed of lid and base.

A clear plastic shape inserted in lid forms 

the box's window with scalloped top shape 

and heart-shaped "stripe" are added on top. 

Ribbon slots on decorative shape edges allows a ribbon 

to be tied around closed base & lid as closure.

Finished size is approx. 5.25" wide x 4.75" tall x 1" deep.

You'll be surprised how quickly this little gem

goes together.

ASSEMBLY:

1. Identify and cut the shapes:

A heart base shape

B base boxing strips

C base cosmetic liner (to hide tabs inside)

D lid heart shape

E lid boxing strips

F clear window shape

G decorative overlay base for lid

H decorative "stripe" overlay for lid

When attaching clear plastic window shapes, I prefer to use a double-sided adhesive narrow tape (such as the Kool Tak product shown here) along the edges of the window to attach it in place.

Remove the protecting tape liner, then place it into the lid backside and press to secure the window heart shape in place.

Layer and attach the accent "stripe" echo heart onto the scalloped decorative lid shape.

Attach the scalloped heart to the lid front, aligning the inner shapes of both.

It will help to turn the lid assembly face down on a flat smooth surface to press from the backside to achieve a complete and thorough attachment.

Fill the base with your selected candy, or prepare the gift card base by folding and joining the wedge tabs on the side boxing sections and joining the the adjacent straight edge.

Near the top, the space will be filled in by attaching the section that is part of the platform strip . . .

. . . as can be seen here. Join the tab to the final top right boxing edge and to the heart edge . . . 

. . . then bend the platform strip into a triangular shape which sits loosely under the heart platform.

Fit the insert into the base and push down until it seats against the base back. The gift card surface will be fairly close to the box rim.

Place the lid on the box. Wrap a 16-19" length of 1/2" to 1" wide fairly soft ribbon around the back of the box and thread ends through the side slots in the lid decor shape. 

Bring ends to the center front and tie in a loose overhand knot at the front (you will need a longer length of ribbon to tie a bow). Arrange and trim tie ends.

Now you are ready to treat your favorite Valentine!

3d Heart Candy, Gift or Card Box Tutorial

Measuring just 4.5" x 4" x .75", it holds just the right amount of treats!

TUTORIAL

1. Identify and cut the shapes.

2. Fold base boxing strips at perforations. Fold tabs back. 

3. Locate the non-"T" tab end of boxing strip (find the circle symbol tab). Apply glue and overlap opposite non-tab end to perforation, align so that boxing edges create a continuous straight edge, then hold until adhesive is secure.

4. Apply glue to tab to one side of the boxing strip seam. Attach tab under the base heart at corner.

Continue applying glue one or two tabs, folding boxing at perforation to align tab fold edge with edge of base heart until first half is complete and in place.

Follow the same process to attach the second boxing half.

5. Apply glue to the top center tab. Slide it into position behind the opposite boxing vertical edge. Hold joint until it is secure.

6. Finish the base by applying glue and placing liner face side up into base.

Note that the liner in the cut file has a small arch cutout near the bottom left edge so that it won't be confused with the base shape.

(This notch was not included in the shape above used for the photographs in this tutorial.)

7. Join the rim boxing strips into a single length.

Fold the lip edge "tabs" back, apply glue to each, then re-fold into place and hold until each is secure. DO NOT glue the final rim "tab" near the un-glued non-tab boxing end until other free edge is joined (rim boxing will form a ring at this point).

8. Apply glue, overlap tab over backside of opposite strip, hold in place until secure.

Glue and re-fold final rim tab into place.

9. Begin gluing hollow lid shape to rim tabs at center top. Work around heart to align and glue tabs to corresponding edges of hollow face shape until all edges are attached to hollow heart. 

10. Apply glue to the underside of hollow lid heart. Insert cut clear heart shape and hold in place to secure. Take care not to touch clear plastic to avoid body oil or glue smudges. 

11. Apply glue to the hollow lid face surface. Position and attach face shape, taking care to align inner heart edges that should match up.










12. Fold gift card insert edges back along perforations. Fold back each of the narrow triangular-shaped tabs in the gaps between sections. Apply glue to tabs one at a time, overlap adjacent straight boxing section edge and hold to glue in place.

(Gift card does NOT need to be place at this stage of construction. When placing gift card onto insert, avoid pulling at semicircular tabs. Instead, flex card into an arch, then in this slightly "shortened" configuration carefully insert edges until end tabs.

13. Prepare "extra" boxing section with tabs and platform support. Fold end and top tabs back. Fold support strip inward at perforations.

14. Attach tab end under section straight vertical edge near heart top as shown. Before gluing, direct the strip to extend toward heart area center, below the platform area.

15. Underneath the heart insert, fold the strip into a loose triangular shape.

16. Position the insert into the box base. Push downward into the box until it is fully in.

17. Finally, place lid onto base.

Now your heart box is ready to fill with treats, or with gift card on the insert.
