Thanksgiving Card Oval Swirl Window

Layers of card stock create a low-relief dimensional frame
with oval window, with asymmetrical swirls top layer,
mounted on a rounded rectangle easel base.
Small acorn, divided oak leaf and “thanksgiving”
word cut accents finish the design.
Great for the autumn season’s display or
to accompany a hostess gift.
Measures approx. 5x7 when completed and closed.

ASSEMBLY: 1. Identify and cut the shapes:
A front card base   B back card base (with perforation 'hinge')
C lower front accent panel
D outer frame base shapes (2 for layering)
E contrast underlay for frame
F frame middle layers (2 for layering)
G upper frame layers (2 for layering)
H contrast layer for upper frame
I rim oval (2 for layering)
J swirl flourish (2 for layering)
K acorn accent base and cap
L 'thanksgiving' word cut (2 for layering)
M oak leaves button accent, base & overlay
2. Position and attach the front accent panel onto
card base front, with offset sides and lower edges.
3. Bend the lower portion of back base card forward
at perforation 'hinge' so that card interior sentiment space
can be created, then position and attach upper portion
only to backside of card front.
This creates the self-stand easel effect.
4. Prepare to layer and attach the pairs of built-up shapes,
then layer and glue together, taking care to align ALL
cut edges as precisely as possible. It is advisable
to press each glued up unit under a heavy, flat object such as
a plank or large book while drying, to prevent any warping
or curling, until completely dry, either as units dry at this
stage in preparation, or at end of step 6, etc.
5. Position and attach the largest base frame layered unit
onto the top of the accent 'show thru' shape.
6. Position and attach the accent 'show thru' shape
behind the upper frame layered unit.
NOTE:  It is advisable
to press each glued up unit under a heavy, flat object such as
a plank or large book while drying, to prevent any warping
or curling, until completely dry. As layers are glued up,
repeat the pressing step.
7. Layer and attach the middle frame layers, with cutout
top layer/contrast, overlaying the plain frame.
8. Layer and attach the swirl layers and 'thanksgiving' word
cuts in similar manner. Layer oak upper shape onto button base.
Prepare the acorn accent by gluing the cap onto the base, then . . .
. . . position and attach acorn unit onto the swirls unit
where silhouette shows.
Here are the prepared units.
9. Position and attach the oval rim shape at the opening
edge of the middle assembly.
10. Position and attach the middle assembly onto
the largest frame unit.
11. Position and attach the frame assembly onto
the upper front portion of the card front, with offset margin
around sides and upper edges.
12. Position and attach (where edges overlap) the swirl
oval on top of the frame rim.
Position and attach (where edges overlap) the 'thanksgiving'
word bridging across the swirl oval.
Tie twine knot and bow through button punch holes,
then position and attach at bottom center of frame.
Here is the completed card.
