A Frame Gift Boxes Wrap Tied

Intriguing shape one-piece tapered box
with a tent side profile is great size for gift giving.
Corner gussets create the shape, with top wrap-over flap
with tab and slot closure on front (or back).
Decorative wrap-around strip further secures box,
with punch holes pair to tie twine or narrow ribbon through.
Add the layered heart for Valentine’s Day or
wedding seasonal flair and flavor,
the snowflake and heart for winter giving,
the layered shamrock with heart button for
St. Patrick's Day celebrations.
Box measures approx. 1.625” deep x 4” long x
3.125” tall when closed.
Filling capacity is approx. 3/4 Cup of loose contents.

NOTE: The hull shape, preparation and "assembly" is the same
for all of the four tent or A-frame gift boxes.
Likewise, the wrap strips configure the same, while some
have seasonal decorations to attach or tie into place.
The simplest is the ribbon-tied version, so it will be
the design described in the assembly guide.

ASSEMBLY: 1. Cut the hull shape (left) and
the wrap strip. (For seasonal variations, also cut
the decorative shapes.)
2. Review this diagram to see which direction the perforations
of the hull are bent or folded, then . . .
. . . bend on all perforations for the hull shape, taking care
to complete a slight initial bend of the side corner gussets,
then re-visiting each to bend more completely and crease
for crisp folds.
Also NOTE that the tab latch portion of the front flap
center should be bent as directed on the diagram,
then bent again in the opposite direction so that
it can be manipulated to be re-directed during latching.
3. Conform the hull shape to its container shape by
directing the gussets inward, with the gusset "wings"
staying more flush with the front panel or back panel,
instead of folding over each other along the sides.
When the corner bends come together completely,
bend the small side tabs inward . . .
. . .  wrap the front tab over the top of the enclosed space,
bend the latch tab back so that it can be inserted
into the slot, then . . .
. . . apply slight pressure so that
the tab slides behind the front panel wall for
a flush final appearance.
4. For the ribbon tied variation, thread the ribbon length
down and up through the top/front panel pair
of slots as shown, then . . .
. . . across the wrap strip to be inserted down and up
through the second pair of slots. Pull the ribbon through
to center the length - though this may be adjusted
a bit when tying.
5. Wrap the ribbon-loaded strip around the closed box,
with the curved edge front tab ending up in the top
over-wrapped position, keeping the ribbon ends free.
6. Tie the ribbon into a knot and . . .
. . . then into a bow.
NOTE: if needed, adjust so that the ends are more
balanced and even.
Here is the completed ribbon-tied box.
7. For the holiday decoration versions, layer the decorations
(Valentine heart: offset doily, doily, large heart, small heart;
Snowflake: flake plus heart;
Shamrock: whole shamrock, shamrock outline,
large heart, small heart) and glue together.
8. Position and attach the decorations to the top/front of
the wrap strip, aligning punch holes.
9. Thread the cut length of twine or thin ribbon
back-to-front through the bottom holes, then
from back-to-front through the backside of wrap strip/
decoration.
Twine ties should be on the front of decoration
awaiting tying, with enough length to allow box hull
to be slid into position. Then . . .
. . . eventually tightened and tied.
10. To complete the gift box, slide the filled and closed
box through the "partial tube" of the wrap strip,
make sure strip ends overlap appropriately,
then tighten the twine, knot and tie bows.

Heart Window 3D Gift Box

Cut this quick-assembly gift box to hold treats
or small gifts for Valentine’s Day or any other occasion
when the heart love symbol can convey your sentiments.
Model project uses classic “gingerbread and
icing” coloring. Select the box and accent colors
that best suit your purpose. Box lid includes
a heart cut out window that can be lined
with clear panel for “see-inside” allure.
On the front, layer the scallop concentric heart “rings”,
with show-thru tear drop cut outs colored by
under-lid contrast liner panel.
Bottom is shaped for quick and easy fold-in
and latch closure.
Box measures approx. 4” x 4” x 1.5” when closed.

ASSEMBLY: 1. Identify and cut the shapes:
A main box hull back, side, bottom and top
B main box hull front, side and bottom
C contrast "show-thru" (white) scallop heart ring
D matching (kraft) scallop heart ring overlay
E contrast teardrop "show-thru" (white) panel
F clear acetate or vinyl window panel
G sides & back icing accent (3)
H front icing accent (1)
NOTE: this box is similar to an earlier circle window
version. Some of the tutorial pictures are taken
from that project's assembly guide.
2. Prepare the main hull shapes by bending back
on all perforation lines for panels, top lid, tabs,
flaps, etc.
3. Overlap the first side seam across side tab to
perforation line, adjust for top/bottom match up,
then glue in place.

4. Position and attach the sides, back and front
icing accent overlaps over corresponding panels
on the hull assembly, with even offset margin
around outer edges.
5. Position hull-matched heart scallop ring over
the contrast heart scallop ring, matching up
the plain inner edges as precisely as possible . . .
. . .and glue together.
Use a flat weight to press the shape while it is drying
if using liquid adhesive.
6. Position the scallop rings assembly over
the front top lid panel, match the inner plain
opening edges, and glue in place.
7. Position and attach the see-thru window panel
behind the contrast heart panel.
Use narrow double-sided stick tape
8. Position the contrast panel/clear panel assembly
behind the top lid shape, matching heart plain inner
edges (contrast panel opening has tiniest offset larger).
9. Bend the hull to bring together the second side seam
edges, adjust for alignment, then complete the seam.
NOTE that this side seam can have finger pressure
applied in box's flat configuration.
10. Close the bottom flaps to form the box:
A) fold the FRONT panel inward, then . . .

B) fold the side panels inward . . .
C) fold the top panel inward and continue beyond
perpendicular so that the tab slides under the opposite
front panel edge; adjust so that bottom panels are squared.
11. To close the box, tuck the front flange in
and behind the front wall.
Here is the completed box, filled with treats.

Gingerbread Icing Treat Box

Cut this quick-assembly gift box to hold
treats or small gifts.
Box top includes a circle window
to back with clear acetate.
On the front, layer the teardrop and scallop layers as lid decoration.
Bottom is shaped for fold-in and latch closure.
Measures approx. 4" wide x 4" long x 1.5" deep when closed.

ASSEMBLY: 1.  Identify and cut the shapes:
A box lid/back/side
B box side/front
C lid underlay contrast show-thru panel
D clear vinyl or acetate panel for window
E window opening "icing" trim ring
F window opening "icing" trim mask ring
(this over-lays E to form a finer squiggle ring)
G side panel "icing" overlays (3)
(NOTE the front thumb-hole icing is not shown)
2. Prepare the box sections by bending back
on all perforations for lid, flap, walls, tabs, etc.
3. Join the two sections at one side seam
by overlapping the straight side edge at
the corresponding side seam tab to the perf
line and glue in place.
4. Position and attach the lid icing ring around
the window circle cutout with circle edges aligned
as precisely as possible.
5. Position and attach the icing accents
for sides, back and front panels.
6. Position and attach the window icing mask ring
so that circle opening edges align as precisely
as possible. This decreases the width of
the icing strip attached in step 5.
7. Position and attach the clear panel
behind the opening in the contrast underlay panel.
Consider using a double-stick tape such as
the Kool Tak shown here to attach clear panel.
8. With the contrast panel face side up, position
it under the lid so that the circle window edges
align as precisely as possible, and attach in place.
9. Form the box assembly into a tube to bring
the final side seams together, and join
as with first side seam.
NOTE that this seam can have finger pressure
applied while the box is in a flattened form.
10. To close the bottom of the box,
first fold the front flange into position,
then . . .
. . . bend the sides into position, and finally . . .
. . . bend the back into position . . .
. . . flexing the other panel positions to allow
the tab to insert into the slot.
Un-flex the flanges so that bottom is flat.
11. Close the lid into position by tucking
the rounded flap behind the front panel.

Here is the completed, filled treat box.
