Chickie Easter Egg Arch Step Card

Dimensional card with perforations to create taller
center panel with flanking side panels,
lower front “base” panel.
Easter theme includes cheery chick with
slightly offset base with wingspan to cross
the center panel cutout egg-shape,
with loopy arch overlay.
Side, lower front, and back accent panels provide scope
for print paper selection, with eyelet lace strip accents.
Side panels also include “beading” slots for ribbon strip
to be threaded through as added detail.
Layered “Easter” banner completes seasonal presentation
(“Spring” banner tag is also available as
a separate download).
Card measures approx. 5” x 7” when folded flat
for sending.
Coordinated envelope (Env Chick Medallion Flap 5x7)
design also available.

ASSEMBLY: 1. Identify and cut the shapes:
A main card base, with perforations, egg hollow cut out
B & C side accent shapes, eyelet overlays, paper "ribbon"
D bottom accent shape, eyelet overlay
E back accent shape, eyelet overlay
F center front panel accent overlay
G loopy egg frame (cut 1-2 for sturdiness)
H chick offset base shape
I chick body base with eye contrast cut out
J left & right wings   K eye contrast insert
L head, beak overlay
M banner tag base, N contract banner
O banner front (top layer)   P "Easter" welded word
2. Prepare the egg frame by layering and gluing
together, taking care to match cut edges as precisely
as possible. Press under a heavy flat weight until dry.
3. (Image is from from a different step card design tutorial.)
Prepare the step card base by bending all
perforations as "mountain" folds, EXCEPT
the mid-side perforations which are bent as
"valley" folds (marked as 'V' in cut file).
NOTE that the Egg Arch base includes a very narrow
frame extension at the top which "pops out" from
the back panel with the creases are folded back.
4. Bend the card flat to crease and "lock in" folds.
5. Position and attach the offset accent panels
for lower front, sides and back.
NOTE that the side accent panels will align with both
top-of-panel perforation line, and
side-of-panel cut edge as indicated by pointing fingers.
6. Position and attach the center front accent panel,
taking care that egg cutout edges for accent and base
align.
7. Position and attach the eyelet accent overlays
onto front lower panel, and back lower panel.
NOTE that the sample project has the eyelet lower straight
edge of each raised slightly above the lower cut edge
of accent panels.
8. Prepare the side eyelet accents by threading
the narrow paper "ribbon" strips up through the slots:
begin at bottom slot to insert strip end front to back.
Continue the threading by threading strip end UP
through second slot. Continue in same fashion
to insert down-up through the closely-spaced pair . . .
. . . until top of strip aligns with eyelet edge.
9. At bottom of strip, trim bottom even with eyelet
edge as shown (image shows from backside).
Add a dab of glue to attach bottom end of strip
to eyelet lace strip.
10. Position and attach eyelet/ribbon assemblies
over side accent panels, with inner edges aligned
at base cut edge.
11. Position and attach the loopy egg arch frame over
front panel, taking care to align inner cut out edges of both.
12. Prepare the chick assembly:
A) attach left and right wing overlays in place;
B) Position body/wings assembly over the chick base
with narrow offset margin all around;
C) Insert and attach eye contrast panel inside
cut out of body;
D) Position and attach head shape over body
and align edges; E) Position and attach beak shape
at center as shown in next photo.
Here is the finished chick assembly in finished form.
13. Position the chick, centered, over card front
so that bottom edge overlaps at bottom slightly,
and wing tips overlap loop frame edges slightly;
attach at overlapped edges.
14. Assemble the banner by attaching offset,
contrast base shape onto main banner base,
center top and bottom edges aligned.
Then position and attach "Easter" welded word,
centered on front banner layer.
Position and attach banner front onto assembly.
Add small colored studs over hole cut outs.)
(Optional "Spring" welded word is also available
as an alternate word for card front.)
15. Position and attach banner (centered) assembly over
lower front panel with "cut off" banner point straight
edges aligned at card base edge.
Here is the completed step card.
