Flourish Arabesque with Butterflies Pair

Large-scale lyrical flourish with oval center base,
large and smaller butterflies can be the focal point
of a floral ensemble, as a scrapbook page embellishment,
or as foundation component for other large decorative creation.
Flourish measures approx. 4” wide x7.5” tall;
large butterfly approx. 2.85” wide x 2.3” tall;
small butterfly approx. 1.72” wide x 1.35” tall.

Designed as coordinated component for
“Tag Kit Oval Frame Stitched”; see that project HERE.

ASSEMBLY: 1. Identify and cut the shapes:
A vertical flourish element (2 layers for strength)
B horizontal flourish element (2 layers for strength)
C optional center oval base (cosmetic)
D large butterfly with body
E small butterfly with body
2. Layer and attach the flourish element and copy,
taking care to align ALL cut edges as precisely as possible.
Use the center alignment hole to assist.
Do this for both vertical and horizontal shapes.
Place under a large flat weight until liquid adhesive
is thoroughly dried.
3. Layer the horizontal flourish over top of
vertical flourish element, aligning the center oval
portions of the shapes, and ensuring that
both are centered, then glue together
where ovals and arms overlap.
NOTE that the "tip" ends of vertical can be arranged
to intertwine through the loops of the horizontal
flourish, if desired.
4. Position and attach the optional cosmetic
oval over the front of the assembly
to hide the alignment hole.
5. Prepare the butterflies by positioning and
attaching the body shapes on top of the wing base
where the edges match up.
6. Gently bend the wings back at body edge
on both sides to add dimension to the butterfly.
7. If desired, the flourish assembly coordinates by design
with the large picot edge tag with lacy frame design.

Here is the large tag project with flourishes
and butterflies attached. Banner sentiment
shape is being added over top of flourish.
