Dresden Quilt Sunflower Card

Square top-fold card features traditional
Dresden Plate quilting design.
Mix and match 12 print petals with layered center blossom,
arranged on a silhouette shape that matches
front accent panel. Match center punch holes
for slightly off-center alignment on card front.
“Sunflower” word cut is centered and tucked BEHIND
the center-only-attached flower.
(An alternative word cut “Hello Sunshine” is available
as separate design download.)
Card measures approx. 5.5” x 5.5” when closed.

ASSEMBLY: 1. Identify and cut the shapes:
A card base (top fold center crease)
B front accent panel
C flower base silhouette
D "dark" contrast center circle
E sunflower Dresden petals (12)
F flower center
G word cut out   H accent circles (10)
2. Begin flower assembly by positioning dark (large) circle
onto base silhouette by matching the center alignment
circles, and glue in place.
3. Arrange the flower petals in the order desired,
then position and attach to the silhouette base,
using scallop outer edge as alignment guide, while
also nudging lower curved edge in next to circle edge.

NOTE: the sample card uses one MAIN yellow print (6)
with three other secondary yellow/gold prints (2 each).
Many combinations are possible, including 12 different
coordinated prints, 3 each of 4 prints, six each of 2 prints. etc.

4. Fold the card base in half, then unfold.
5. Position and attach the accent front panel
onto the punched front panel of card base,
aligning circles, square up edges, then glue in place.
6. Position the word cut at top of front panel
(letters overlap accent panel edge slightly)
so that it is balanced and centered, then attach.
7. Position and attach the accent circle punches
into the circle cut outs.
8. Position the flower assembly over the card front,
using the center punched holes of all layers
to align the flower in the appropriate location.
NOTE that the flower assembly will need to be
rotated to make sure that one of the petals - plus
the one directly across front it - are in the "north/south"
position. Attach the center of the flower assembly ONLY
to the card front, leaving the edges free to overlap
the word cut.
9. Position flower center shape centered over
the larger flower assembly and attach in place.
Here is the completed card.
