Available for purchase/download in two parts,
the dimensional letter-shaped boxes in this ensemble design
are constructed as LIDs that fit snugly over BASEs,
aiming at resembling wooden block cut outs.
Tallest letter box A large measures approx. 6.3” tall x
4.5” wide at base x 1.75” deep.
Other letter box heights are approx. 5.75" tall.

ASSEMBLY: (continued)
I BOX LETTER & SWAG FLAGS BANNER
46. Here are the shapes required for these two elements.
47. Layer and attach the 2 stringer shapes (if you cut 2)
to provide extra strength and reinforcement.
Press under a heavy flat weight.
the circles over convergence at ends.
Also, bend the flags in half at perforation line,
then position and center the middle flag on stringer,
enclosing stringer between front and back, and
attach in place. Position two more folded flags, touching
at top side points, on each side of center flat,
attaching in same manner.
49. Prepare the LID and BASE boxes by bending back
on all perforations for panels and tabs.
NOTE that you can tell which shape is the BASE
because it have two tiny half circle "bite marks"
cut at one side edge.
50. Position accent panel on top of LID hull shape,
with even offset margins all around between accent
edges and perforations, and attach in place.
with straight end edges overlapping side tabs,
and attach in place to form 'tray'.
52. Repeat for BASE tray in same manner.
53. Fit the LID over the BASE, slide together,
then apply quick-grab adhesive between walls
to securely attach together.
R LETTER BOX
54. Here are the shapes for the R box, including
the short strips that will be boxing for the interior windows.
Here is the illustration that shows where the strips
will be joined with corresponding symbols, as well as
where the #1 first strips will be attached, respectively.
55. Prepare the LID strips by bending back on all
panels, flanges, narrow tabs, etc. as for previous
letter boxes. Also add curl to the multi-strip areas
that correspond to the curves of letter face shape.
Position them around the letter shape to assist
with understanding where they attach.
56. Prepare the LID interior window strip by
bending back tabs, adding tight curl at multi-
tab areas. Form the shape into a tube to overlap
straight end edge across end tab and joining
seam. NOTE that the end tab is attached behind
the opposite strip wall.
57. Position and attach the first long edge of boxing
strip to lead edge of R face shape. Then . . .
. . . swing the strip to position and attach the first
straight segment, the outward curved segment,
and the following straight segment.
58. Position and attach the next strip (check end tabs for
matching symbol cutouts) in sequence . . .
. . . then position the first curved segment, long segment
and remainder of straight segments to complete
attachment of this strip.
59. Join the final strip in place and align, attach
remaining segments . . .
. . . including the end cap tab and end seam tab.
60. Refer to the A+ letter box opening assembly to
position, adjust and attach the window boxing shape . . .
. . . including checking from front to adjust boxing
alignment with edge.
NOTE that boxing tight curved area adjustments will be
assisted by pushing the curved pad of a finger into
the curve area to push toward letter shape edge.
61. Attach R accent shape to LID.
62. Repeat assembly to complete R BASE, then
fit together as described for A+ letter box, fitting BASE
window walls around LID window boxing
(LID boxing will be surfaces showing when box is closed.)
Apply quick-grab glue between walls, then . . .
. . . apply hand and finger pressure to push LID walls
tightly to join to BASE walls, until glue is secure.
LETTER BOX C
63. Here are the shapes for C box.
This illustration shows where the boxing strip connections
are made with corresponding symbols, as well as
where the first end of #1 strip begins attachment.
64. Refer to Tutorial Part 1 beginning in Step 25 which
shows assembly for the lower case 'e',
to view similar assembly steps, including
using a rod tool to add curl to multi-tab segments
of boxing strips (tighter curl for inner curves),
adding inner edge boxing strips to letter face shape,
adjusting to match curve tab sequences to curved
letter face shapes, etc. Then follow steps to
attach inner boxing strip to LID letter face, joining
second & third boxing strips as assembly progresses.
65. Finally, position and attach the end cap segment
and join final strip-to-strip seam.
66. Repeat in reverse image to assemble BASE.
67. Position and attach accent front shape with
narrow offset margin all around.
68. Fit LID over BASE and push together fully.
Apply adhesive between walls and press walls
together all around to secure tight thorough fit.
A MEDIUM LETTER BOX
69. The slightly shorter A box that comes at the end of
the AMERICA ensemble is assembled in the same
manner as the A+ box, except follow this illustration
which shows where the boxing strip joints with
associated symbols fall, and also where the first end
of #1 strip join to begin assembly.
70. To complete the "permanent" arrangement and
assembly of the seven letter boxes with platform to
replicate the sample project, cut a piece of white or black
foam core mounting board approx. 3" wide (or slightly wider)
x 25.5" long. Glue 3 sheets of corrugated 12x12 kraft paper
to bottom face first, wrap around and glue to front depth edge,
(shown below), then across top, then down back depth edge
using strong quick grab adhesive such as Fabri-Tack (shown here)
or hot melt glue sticks. As each face is ready to bend, use a folding
tool or hera creasing tool to score along the edge of foam core,
then bend into place and apply pressure or flat weights
to secure thoroughly across base width.
71. When final depth is covered and glue is dry,
use an art or utility knife (razor blade) to trim away
excess. Cut a narrow across-the-corrugations strip
for each of the ends, glue in place, then trim ends
even with adjacent corrugated stock.
72. Make a test arrangement of the letter boxes across
the prepared platform, approx. 1/2" forward of back edge,
with a scant 1/4" between letters/platform box. Adjust as
desired, then remove one letter at a time to securely glue
each in place. Position and attach the flag swag with one end
on the R and second end on the C.
