Garden Hat 3D Easel Card

Nod appreciation or gratitude to a favorite gardener
within your circle with this round card that has layered
under-lid panel that bends to prop up the attached
lady’s garden hat Inside, with “bloom & grow” stop panel
for the easel mechanism.
Decorate hat with included
crown straw overlays, contrast brim rims and
dimensional top “button, then add flower and leaf accents.
Create and give as a card offering general greetings,
birthday, congratulations, or encouragement.
Card measures approx. 5” x 5” x 1.875” tall when closed.

ASSEMBLY: 1. Identify and cut the shapes:
A card base (2 circles joined, with cross perforation
line on "front" circle
B & C whole circle front and back reinforcement panels
D & E interior offset accent whole and half circles
F stop panel (main) with word cut guide cut marks
with "bloom & grow" word/symbol cutouts
G stop panel under-panels (2)
H posy flowers (3)
I optional waste panel cut-away retained to
assist with word/symbols
J front panel contrast scallop edge panel
K front top layer accent panel with platform tube cutout
L riser strip for platform   M top octagon panel for platform
N & O front & back hat brim shapes
P front and back brim rims
Q brim back camouflage panels
R crown wedge shapes (8)
S crown wedge accent overlays (8)
T top button hollow and reg circles (3 ea.)
U hat band strips (2)
V flower adornment (petals, two centers, leaf)
3. Prepare the main card base shape by  bending
back in half, and also bending top/front panel back
on cross perforation.
4. Position the lower half of front reinforcement whole
circle over the front-most half circle segment of
main base shape, and attach ONLY front halves
together (this is the easel functioning portion of card).
5. Position and attach the front scallop accent shape,
centered, on card front (reinforcement) shape.
6. Position and attach the second reinforcement circle
on underside/ backside of card base, but attach ALL of the circle.
7. Position and attach the interior accent shapes
onto the bottom inside of base panel (whole circle)
and on the bottom half of the upper interior as shown.
9. The platform on top of the easel card provides a form
for the 3D hat to attach to. Prepare the platform riser boxing
strip by bending back on all perforations for segments
and top angled-edge tabs; bend forward for bottom straight tabs.
10. Form the boxing strip into a ring, insert the end
tab under the opposite end straight edge, adjust,
and join the seam.
11. Bend the top tabs inward. Invert the boxing strip
ring, apply adhesive to the underside of top tabs,
then insert the top octagon face down inside
the ring, and apply pressure to join each of the
edge seams securely.
12. Prepare the insert the platform in the top accent
circle by applying adhesive to the ring's bottom tabs
(face side). Insert the platform bottom upward inside
the octagon opening . . .
. . . push through until opening edges rest at
tab bends . . .
. . . and apply pressure all around.
13. Prepare the stop panel by layering the two back
layers (which include the brad tang recess window)
with outer edges aligned as precisely as possible,
then layer the front/top layer on top of the stack,
and join all three. Press stack under a heavy flat
weight until glue is completely dry.
14. Position and attach the word cuts by locating
the corresponding left or right end bottom edge
guide cut marks on the front layer, then
arranging so bottom of letters are an even distance
from the rounded edge of stop.
Once "bloom" and "grow" welded words are
positioned and attached, position and attach
the '&' symbol between.
15. Position and attach the posy flowers in place
at the punch holes using mini brads. On the stop panel
backside, the tangs can be bent back within the recess
so that panel can be attached flat.
16. Position the assembled stop panel unit at
the center front inside surface of card base,
offset along edge of accent circle, and glue
in place.
This image shows how the front edge of the lid circle
will "stop" and be held in open position
by the thickness of the stop panel top edge.
17. Refer to the Garden 3D Hat Miniature tutorial to
assemble the miniature hat for the hat easel card.
If preferred (as in the model card hat version) on hat band
side punch holes replace stud/gems with mini eyelets by . . .
. . . using an awl or other sharp tool to pierce
the hat crown wedges under the hat band holes,
then insert and crimp or securely glue eyelets in place.
18. Prepare to attach the completed 3D hat to
the card top/front by applying quick-grab adhesive
such as the Fabri-Tack glue used here all around
the inside bottom of the crown and carefully
along bottom ridge.
Immediately position the hat over the platform
and push into place . . .
. . . holding until adhesive is secure.
19. With card complete, the easel action can be used
to tip the hat upward into position as shown here.
