Christmas Thickened Napkin Rings

Bring some “sparkle” to a holiday table by cutting
and assembling simple shape napkin ring holders.
Shapes in the collection include: reindeer antlers,
Santa hat, tree, star, snowflake.
A 1.6” round opening allows a standard dinner napkin
to be rolled or folded and inserted through to rest at center.
Space at the “top” of the ring (or on Santa hat brim shape)
can be used to pen a guest name if desired
to make the ring serve as place holder.
Cut multiple shapes (3-4) plus “reversed” back shape,
glue together, press under heavy flat weight until
thoroughly dried (hours), then the thickened,
sturdy napkin ring is complete.
Use a single napkin ring style at every place setting,
or mix and match several for more variety.
Tree measures approx. 3.73” tall x 3.27” wide.

Short assembly guide will demonstrate layering
for the reindeer antlers ring. Other designs
are assembled the same way.

ASSEMBLY: 1. Cut the desired number of layers
for intended thickness and strength for EACH of
the napkin rings being created.
The reindeer antlers ring has 4 layers including front
shape, plus one "reversed" shape for the backside.
The sample uses kraft brown for all layers,
but a contrast face color for front & back could be cut
with "core" layers a different color from those.
2. Layer the main shapes and glue together,
taking care to align and match ALL cut edges,
including ring interior.
Layer and glue the reversed back shape onto
back of stack in same manner.
3. Place the glued up stack on flat work surface with
a heavy flat object such as a thick book volume
on top of the glued stack. Consider placing something
else heavy on top of the book. Allow this pressing
to remain in place until thoroughly dried, for
several hours or overnight, to help prevent curling
or warping of cardstock when using liquid glue.
After pressing is complete, the ring is finished,
ready to slip a rolled napkin through.

4. Other Christmas and winter style rings are completed
in the same manner as the sample antlers project shown.
The exception is the Santa hat, which includes contrast
hat crown, brim strip and tassel ball, both for front
and for "reversed" back, which are placed in corresponding
positions on top of face hat shapes, if desired.
The Santa hat ring design can also be executed as
a single color cut, or as face and core contrast assembly.
